Shawn and I had a great group of friends from Springfield come down to Dexter to participate in the run this year. I tell ya what, having such supportive friends really helps in times like this! It was their first time to Dexter so we were very excited! A huge shout out to Kira Perkins, Morganne Tiller, Staci Holland, Lauren and Kinley Wilmes, and Dusty Butler for making the trip and participating in Vaughn's run!
The run could not have gone better. The weather was absolutely perfect and Vaughn's presence was made very clear to us. Shawn gave a beautiful speech before the run about supporting other ALS families and his Dad. I am so very proud of my husband! It's not easy to do something like that but he did it and I know that Vaughn and the rest of the Wright family couldn't be more proud of him!
The money raised this weekend is going to help ALS families in the Dexter area. As of right now there are four families that we know of. This run did so much for our family and it feels pretty great to be able to give back to other families who need it too.
Also, a huge shout out to the Kruse and Pope families! They started this event to help Vaughn and Nancy and now are continuing to do it for other families. You guys are absolutely amazing!!
The run will live on and continue to help ALS families in the future. I can't wait to see it grow every year!
